68. The Foolish
Bear
Once there was a ravenous
bear that went riverside in search of food. He started searching for fish into
the water. He saw a fish and pounced on it but soon left the fish thinking,
that it's too small to fill his stomach. Then he caught another fish and found
it too small, so he again left it. This way, he caught many small fish, still
thinking that the small fish would not fill his belly. By sunset the bear could
not catch any big fish. He became tired having kept standing for very long. He
now felt sorry for having let off so many fish. He realized that all those
small fish together would have filled up his belly, but now it was too late. He
had to remain hungry that day.
