131. The
Man and the Rose
Once a man planted
and watered a rose plant faithfully before it blossomed. He examined it and saw
the buds that would soon blossom, but the presence of sharp thorns around the
buds made him furiously angry and he cut the thorns. But after some days again,
he noticed those thorns. After that day he didn't take care of the plant.
Still, the rose blossomed which made him baffled. Hastily, he went to a saint to
ask the secret behind that. The saint made him understand by giving the best
example of soul. He said, “The rose is like the soul of each person. Around the
soul there are some shortcomings but it doesn't mean that we should leave our
soul. This is one of the characteristics of love...to look at a person, know
his true faults and accept that person into your life. Help others to realize
and teach to overcome their faults. If we show them the ‘rose' within
themselves, they will conquer their thorns. Only then will they blossom many
times.”
Moral:
Accept your shortcomings as well.
